The School of Health and Welfare is one of four schools within Jönköping University and one of the leading institutions in the country for academic studies in health, nursing and social work. The Department of Rehabilitation (AFR) at the School of Health and Welfare is responsible for education within Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) and Occupational Therapy (OT) at the Bachelor Level, Master of science in Product Development with a specialization in assistive technology (MASTech) and Occupational Therapy at the Masters Level. The department also delivers Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician and Pedorthist educations at the technical diploma level (YH).  Our Bachelor level P&O and MASTech educations are international programs conducted entirely in English. The clinical education in Prosthetics & Orthotics is the only such education offered in Sweden. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Assistant Professor, you will contribute to theoretical and practical teaching within the P&O and MASTech programs. You will be expected to show a high level of competence and be able to serve as examiner in relevant courses, including the supervision and examination of bachelor theses.

Depending on your competence, participation in educational programs other than P&O and MASTech, may be relevant. Furthermore, you will be expected to contribute to the overall operation at the School of Health and Welfare by filling various academic and/or administrative assignments. In addition to teaching, supervision, and examiner roles, you will also participate in, and contribute to, research both within the subject area and between other subject areas at HHJ. You will be expected to contribute to the activities of one or more of the trans-disciplinary research environments at HHJ.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for the position, you must have a doctoral degree in P&O or subject area relevant to the position (i.e., physiotherapy, biomechanics, biomedical engineering).

It is also important that you can demonstrate a level of independence in research, have the ability to plan and lead research and the ability to communicate research to a variety of audiences.

You have documented teaching expertise and have completed courses related to pedagogy in higher education or have a willingness to complete such courses. We expect you to have high level of competence in spoken and written English. Swedish language competency is meritorious.

You have demonstrated sound leadership skills and a sound ability to plan, organize and prioritize the work in an effective way, adapted to the purpose. You have a flexible work approach, are resilient to external stresses and can manage multiple work tasks simultaneously. Furthermore, you have the ability to work independently as well as in teams. International experience or interest as well as an international network in relation to P&O research are meritorious.
