The President has the overall responsibility for the university and is appointed by the Foundation Governing Board.

Your mission as the President will be to lead the organisation into the future, providing a visionary leadership with a clear direction in close cooperation with staff, students and stakeholders. This means a focus on delivering on the university’s growth ambitions, with a foundation in competitive education and impactful research as well as strong partnerships with industry and other local, national and international stakeholders. 

Jönköping University has close to 10,000 students, of which 1,500 are international students. The University has approximately 720 faculty and staff and collaborates with 350 international partner universities and 800 host companies.

Research and education are carried out in four schools, each contributing to the overall vision and strategy of the university: Jönköping International Business School, School of Education and Communication, School of Engineering and the School of Health and Welfare.

Students and staff from all over the world, combined with an international perspective in all education programmes, offer students at Jönköping University an intercultural experience on campus and prepare them for working in an international context in Sweden and abroad.

Research at Jönköping University is internationally competitive and supported by strong international collaboration and external funding. Qualifications:

Academic background:
You are a recognized researcher at an international level with knowledge of the education sector and experience of teaching in higher education institutions

Management Experience:
You have proven experience of leading through others in complex knowledge institutions preferably at senior management level.

Language skills:
You are a strong communicator, fluent in English, both spoken and written, with the willingness and ability to learn Swedish.

Strategic development:
You have the ability to grasp national and international circumstances and opportunities for higher education and research.

You have a proven ability to develop and implement strategies.

Management of stakeholders:
You have experience in constructive and result-oriented collaboration between academia, business and the community at large.

Leadership:
You have a visionary and inspiring profile in creating an attractive environment for students and employees.

You have the ability to listen, communicate, make decisions with integrity, clarity and transparency and gain support for these.

You have the ability to delegate and lead through other people combined with the ability to build trust and create commitment.
