The School of Education and Communication

The School of Education and Communication is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer education and research in media and communication studies, international work, human resources and teaching. We have extensive activities towards professional training and skills development. The strategic research and educational project Lead Me at Jönköping University, is a project positioned in the fields of anthropology, educational sciences, special pedagogy, and digital, and analogue communication. The aim of the project is to develop and effectuate international educational programmes and courses on advanced level, with a special focus on learning, teaching, and communication practices. The project is thoroughly international and will include researchers and teachers from different subject fields. Apart from partaking in the project, the teachers and researchers will teach in pre-school, and teacher training programmes at The School of Education and Communication.

We are now searching for a Lecturer in Social Anthropology with a focus on Deaf Education. 

WORK SPECIFICATION
Your work remit will include developing, planning, and executing training in teacher training programmes, pre-school teacher education, and special pedagogy on basic and advanced levels and, in addition, also participating in and developing research in the Lead Me-project. You will also be expected to supervise and examine student dissertations on both basic and advanced levels. As our programmes have an international profile you will be expected to regularly teach and supervise in English.

QUALIFICATIONS
We expect you to have a bona fide Ph. D.-degree in anthropology or in another related field of relevance to the programmes and their research profiles. We expect you to already have experience of teaching in a higher education context and that you have a documented interest in deaf education. 

In assessing your application your scientific production and your teaching skills and experience will carry equal weight. We will also consider your personal suitability, your documented ability to co-operate well with other staff and students as well being able to take initiative. Since your work will include teaching and supervising in English we expect you to be able to communicate effectively in that language, both speaking and in writing.

THE NATURE OF THE POSITION
The Lectureship is a full-time position limited to a maximum of 18 months. Date of commencement will be at a time agreed between the selected applicant and the university. Conditions for work and employment at the university are legally regulated
