The School of Education and Communication is one of four schools within Jönköping University. The school offers education and research in the areas of teaching, media and communication studies, international work and human resources, and has extensive activities within commissioned education in the area of professional training. The School of Education and Communication has approximately 2,000 students and 140 faculty staff.

As the current Head of Education is retiring, we are looking for a successor.

Your mission will be to lead education on the undergraduate and master’s level. That means you have an important task in helping to create an even more attractive workplace for students and staff. The goal is to achieve strong results while preparing students for their future working life. The Head of Education is part of the management team at the School of Education and Communication.

As the Head of Education, your main task is to develop education at both the undergraduate and master’s level, qualitatively and quantitatively. You are responsible for about 10 employees and are the primary person responsible for the education budget. Collaborating with the other schools at Jönköping University is a natural part of the position. Being Head of Education includes responsibility towards the students in issues related to their education, and can involve complex student cases.

To succeed in this role, you should have a doctoral degree in a relevant field and extensive experience in teaching and developing undergraduate and master’s education at an institute of higher education. Furthermore, you are expected to have solid experience in development and change management in higher education. You should also have experience working with international students. Suitable candidates will have several years of experience in management tasks, including staff management, and have shown good ability to work in a visionary and strategic way. Experience in other management positions is also valuable.

Your leadership is characterized by an ability to listen, communicate and make decisions. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish as well as in English, both verbally and in the written word.
