The department of materials and manufacturing is now seeking an Assistant Professor in polymer and polymer composites!

The department of materials and manufacturing today consists of 43 researchers and PhD students with background in material science, chemistry, mechanics and physics. The research is interdisciplinary and includes the whole chain from casting and coating process and material properties to materials science as well as modelling and simulation. There are 4 main research areas that work closely: Al and other light alloys, cast iron, surface technology and simulation and optimization technology. They form a cutting-edge research group at Jönköping University and School of Engineering and have a well-equipped experimental lab for both manufacturing processes and materials characterization. Besides fundamental research requirements, most of our research projects are industrial oriented and involve high-tech industrial partners.

Job Description 
We are seeking one assistant professor with a background in polymer and polymer composites to work at the department of Materials and Manufacturing with a goal to build a solid area of education and research within polymer and polymer composites. The position includes education i.e. developing courses and teaching at various academic levels, and collaboration with cross functional academia, industry and administration. The position also includes research and management of research activities. Some institutional activities may be included.

Qualifications 
The position of assistant professor of polymers and polymer composites requires proven skills in areas such as polymer materials, fiber reinforced plastics, process and mechanical properties as well as know-how to design plastic products. We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in the field of polymers and polymer composites.

Documented pedagogical and scientific skills within the area of polymers and polymer composites are required. Demonstrated ability to lead educational and research activities as well as having experience in industrial and international cooperation are also requirements.

Due to the international working environment, a good level of the English language, both written and oral, is expected. It is meritorious if you also know Swedish, written and spoken.

The successful candidate is truly interested in educational activities, research and experimental work, pays attention to the reliability and quality of the produced work, has passion for research and eagerly welcomes new challenges, is self-driven, result-oriented and can conduct teamwork in an international and multicultural environment in a respectful manner
