The School of Engineering

The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. We collaborate with the surrounding society to develop new technology and spread knowledge to strengthen the competitiveness of companies. The department of Industrial product development, production and design conducts education and research in areas such as product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programs at Campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two education programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.

Primary part of this opportunity (80%) is to conduct and spread research in a single or many different research projects (new or existing projects), based on organizational needs. The research is performed in close collaboration with industry in the region, many of them are SMEs, within manufacturing or automation, covering different industrial segments. The aim is to bridge the gap between production and product development in its relation to design and material selection.

Secondary part (20%) is teaching in existing courses in our Civilingenjörs-program, Master programme or Bachelor programmes, in courses such as; Production automation/technology, Sustainable production, Production systems, Integrated product and production development and thesis work (instructor or examiner).

The position as a post doc requires you have a doctoral degree (PhD) within production development, product development, production systems, automation, or similar. The PhD must be done during the last three (3) years. We like to see you have research background in production related topic and theoretical experience in relevant field.  

It is meritorious if you have experience in participating in a research project in collaboration with industry. It is also meritorious if you have theoretical knowledge in product and production development, production technology, automation or similar as well as theoretical knowledge in project management.

As a person you are structured, independent and takes responsibility. You have good cooperation skills. You need to be fluent in written and spoken English and it is meritorious if you have skills in Swedish.

This is a temporary position for two years and full-time, with a start date of September 2019, or as agreed upon. Working conditions are regulated in collective agreements and Jönköping University implements individual salary setting.
