School of Health and Welfare, Department of Rehabilitation

The School of Health and Welfare is one of four schools within Jönköping University and one of the leading institutions in the country for academic studies in health, nursing and social work. We work across disciplines with a focus on practical use. You will work in an organization that gives you skills development and opportunities to be involved and exercise influence.

The Department of Rehabilitation (AFR) at the School of Health and Welfare is responsible for education within Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) and Occupational Therapy (OT) at the Bachelor Level, Occupational Therapy at the Masters Level, Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician and Pedorthist educations at the technical diploma level (YH) and commissioned educations for various external partners in industry and the public sector.  Our Bachelor level P&O education is an international program conducted entirely in English and is the only clinical education in Prosthetics & Orthotics in Sweden.

We are currently in a period of expansion and a Master’s program in Product Development with a Specialty in Assistive Technology will start this autumn.  This new educational initiative places additional resource demands on the individuals who have a PhD and educate within the P&O program. As these individuals become involved in the MASTech program, there will be an increased need for individuals with doctoral educations to contribute within the P&O program. As such, the recruitment of an additional Assistant Professor of Prosthetics & Orthotics will ensure we have the required individuals to teach, supervise and examine all courses within the P&O education.

You will be expected to show a high level of competence and be able to serve as examiner in relevant courses, including the supervision and examination of bachelor theses. Furthermore, you will be expected to contribute to the overall operation at the School of Health and Welfare by filling various academic and/or administrative assignments. In addition to teaching, supervision and examiner roles, you will also participate and contribute to research within the subject area at HHJ.

To be eligible for the position, you have a doctoral degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics or subject area relevant to the position (ie physiotherapy, biomechanics, biomedical engineering). As an assistant professor you must have a demonstrated research profile showing clear progression following your dissertation work in terms of breadth and depth within the subject area and also work that is of a good international standard.
