The School of Education and Communication

The School of Education and Communication is one of four schools within Jönköping University (JU). We offer education and interdisciplinary research in media and communication, international work, human resources and education. We have extensive activities towards professional training and skills development. The project LeaDMe - Learning, Digitalization, and Media 2018-2021 - calls applications from research fellows specialized in one of the following areas: language, literature and multilingualism (in a broad perspective) and technology, digital media and storytelling, human-computer interaction related to languaging, culture, and diversity. The project seeks to improve the implementation of digital tools in educational settings, focus upon communicative practices across and within digital-analogue learning environments, and work on culturally empowering education through a focus on language, literature and multilingualism (broadly). The project is situated at The School of Education and Communication which has strong profiles in learning and languaging – see the research group profile of CCD – and media and communication studies, as well as a broad contact network of international partners.

LeaDMe is a strategic investment initiative within the network-based national and international research group CCD – Communication, Culture, and Diversity with a node based at The School of Education and Communication, Jönköping University. In the CCD@JU node, interdisciplinary [A1] research is conducted on learning, language and literacy (in a broad sense), multilingualism, and literature focusing on excluding/inclusive communicative practices. Digitalization, globalization and learning in a media dense society are central themes, which include issues of multilingualism and power structures locally and globally based on what is called decoloniality.

Job description
The research work will focus on the challenges and development potentials related to digitalization processes in learning and education, with a particular focus on one or more of the following keywords: language, literature and multilingualism (in a broad sense), globalization, communication, media, cultural diversity and decoloniality. The assignments may include individual teaching activities in the form of lectures or seminars at the master´s level. The applicant is expected to work collegially with other researchers in the LeaDME team.

Qualifications
You have been awarded a Doctoral Degree. The position requires research experience that has focused on technology, digitalization and learning, and/or on language, literature and multilingualism (in a broad sense) in a media dense society. Good communication and collaboration skills and multilingual skills are additional requirements. It is meritorious if you have experience working in teacher training programmes. Employment conditions
The position is temporary, and the scope of employment is part-time 30-50 %. The position is placed at the Department of Language and Communication which conducts activities within the teacher programmes, the media and communication studies programme, and independent courses (that include preschool, subject teacher, media and communication studies, Swedish, Swedish as a second language, English and Literature). The employment starts on 1 August 2020 or as agreed upon. Working conditions for all employees are decided jointly between Unions and University management.
