Jönköping University is now looking for you who would like to work as EU Research Funding Controller and be a part of Jönköping University’s Grants Office. The Grants Office function is a part of the centralized University Services, which provide administrative support to the four Schools and University Leadership. The Grants Office is a recent function now being built up with the responsibility for and focus on providing operative and strategic support regarding external research funding to researchers, leadership and administration at Jönköping University’s four schools, with a focus on the EU research and innovation programme Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe. The Grants Office is a long-term strategic action at Jönköping University initially built up with co-funding from the Region (RJL).

Work assignments 

Working as EU research funding controller within Grants Office you will:

  • Work as a team with other advisors and specialists within Grants Office, to proactively strengthen JU’s participation in externally funded research, especially by working towards increasing the funding from the EU research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe.
  • Provide support to researchers during the proposal-writing phase, mainly regarding budget design.
  • Assist research leaders and project economists at project start-up, follow-up and reporting of EU-funded research projects and more complex national common JU projects.
  • In cooperation with the JU legal experts assist research project leaders, deans and associate deans for Research in interpreting and writing Grant Agreements for externally funded research projects and cooperations (e.g. H2020).
  • Act as JU’s Financial Signatory towards the European Commission and control JU’s financial reports to the EC.

Qualifications

We are looking for a person with at least a B.A. in economics. In addition you have at least three years of working experience, experience of project administration as well as advanced experience in MS Excel. We appreciate if you have experience of working with accounting and the Agresso platform. At Grants Office we work with researchers and colleagues from all over the world, hence it is necessary that you have the capacity to work in English (writing and speaking). To succeed in this function it is important that you have the capacity to understand others’ way of working and other fields of expertise, and cooperate. As a person you have good communication skills and are service-minded. You have good collaboration skills and an analytical approach.

It would be added value if you have:

  • Experience of administrating EU-funded research projects.
  • Knowledge of EU-funding and particularly the EU research and innovation programme Horizon 2020.
  • Knowledge of the major Swedish national financiers.

The position is permanent and full-time with an initial probationary period. Starting as soon as possible or as agreed upon.
