The Grants Office at Jönköping University (JU) provides strategic and operative advice on research funding for researchers, management and administration at JU’s Schools, with a particular focus on the EU’s framework programmes for research and innovation. The Grants Office was set up at JU as a long-term strategic initiative funded by the University and Region Jönköping County.

We are now looking for a qualified Research Advisor with experience of working with research support, specialising in EU funding, focussing on framework programmes for research and innovation. As a Research Advisor at JU, you will become part of a team of experienced specialists within research advice.

 

Work tasks

The European Grant Advisor works to create the conditions for more research applications to result in successful EU-funded research projects at JU. Work tasks include:

  • Monitoring, identifying, defining and providing information about the various forms of EU funding, focussing on Horizon Europe.
  • Entering into dialogue with contact persons for parts of the framework programme together with national contact networks about the requirements and conditions for calls for funding applications.
  • Arranging/attending seminars and training for researchers, management and other interested parties at JU.
  • Providing advice for research projects, primarily within Horizon Europe, from idea to completion by:
    • - Supporting researchers during the application process and also contributing by providing expert knowledge about the formalities.
    • - Supporting researchers during the creation and coordination of new consortia.
    • - Providing project leaders with administrative support.
    • - Supporting researchers in the reporting of research projects.
  • Participating in a team with other advisors and specialists at the Grants Office in development work, i.e. developing processes, working methods and internal communication channels to drive forward the development of the Grants Office.

Qualifications

We are looking for a person with

  • a good insight into the terms and conditions for academic research
  • sound knowledge of and contact with relevant research funders within the EU
  • experience of framework programmes for research and innovation (for example FP7, H2020)
  • experience of coordinating and reporting research projects
  • experience of providing research advice as well as experience of taking projects from idea to completion

You should have an interest in research-strategic issues as well as an understanding of the collaboration between academia, other stakeholders and society in general.

A precondition for the post of Research Advisor is that you are not only an analytical and structured person who takes the initiative, but also a service-minded team player. You are able to communicate perfectly in English, both verbally and in writing, and are happy giving presentations to small and large groups. The role has many internal and external interfaces and there is thus a precondition for social competence and pedagogical skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

It would also be advantageous if you:

  • have completed doctoral studies
  • have good knowledge and experience of the Swedish research funding system
  • have experience from your own research applications and projects
  • can communicate perfectly in Swedish, both verbally and in writing
  • have general knowledge of the EU’s education, innovation and research policies
  • have good knowledge in a third language.

The position is a full-time, indefinite-term contract with a starting date by agreement.
