The Department of Communication and Behavioural sciences is comprised by the subjects Media and communication, Psychology and the research environment CHILD. Within Media and communication, there is a bachelor’s program, an international master’s program (Sustainable Communication), as well as doctoral education. The research in Media and communication has an international profile and, in line with the master’s education, has been oriented towards sustainable communication. Within Media and communication there are some 20 members of staff, covering both academic and practical expertise.

Are you our new colleague? We are looking for an assistant professor in Media and Communication studies for the Department of Communication and Behavioural Sciences (KOB) at the School of Education and Communication (HLK).

OUR OFFER TO YOU

You will be in a stimulating work environment where we attach great value to cooperation between colleagues. Part of the work task is to develop, plan and execute first and second cycle education in Media and Communication, and to be active in the development of research in the subject matter. You will also supervise and examine theses on both levels. As our education has an international profile, some teaching and supervision will be conducted in English apart from Swedish. 

YOUR PROFILE

To succeed and thrive in the role of assistant professor, you need to have good collaborative skills with which you create and maintain contacts with students, colleagues and with the surrounding community. You are competent in both Swedish and English, verbally and in writing, and have good ability to work independently.

Further, to be eligible for the position the candidate should:

• have been awarded a Degree of Doctor in Media and Communication or an equivalent area of expertise
• have documented research expertise
• have documented teaching expertise
• have taken a course in teaching and learning in higher education or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way and undertake to take a course in teaching and learning in higher education during their first two years of employment
• have the potential to develop and lead education and research activities
• have demonstrated a sound capacity for third-stream activities
• have demonstrated a sound ability to plan, organise and prioritise the work in an effective way adapted to the purpose
• have demonstrated sound leadership skills.
  
  

It’s meritorious if you have documented experience of academic leadership and documented interest in sustainability.

Focus will be placed on the person’s aptness to the organization.

INFORMATION

The position is a permanent full-time position, starting 1st of April 2023 or by agreement. All academic positions, however, have an initial six-month probationary period before a position becomes legally permanent per contract.

Annual working time for teachers according to the university's collective agreement. The University of Jönköping implements individual salary setting.
