The Department of Rehabilitation (AFR) is part of the School of Health and Welfare, which is one of our Schools at Jönköping University. AFR is responsible for education within Occupational Therapy (OT) and Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) at the Bachelor Level and Master’s Level. The department also delivers a Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician education at the technical diploma level (YH).

The main tasks are theoretical and practical teaching of students in occupational therapy at basic, advanced, and postgraduate level. Teaching involves course responsibility, course planning and examination as well as participating in the development of the program. You will be expected to participate in research activities and apply research in education. Other tasks may also be relevant depending on your background. In addition to teaching, tasks may also include:

  • conducting and disseminating research relevant to occupational therapy, normally as a member of a research group
  • being an assistant supervisor for research students
  • participating in development work and internal and external committee work
  • participating in knowledge exchange with the outside world
  • participating in university of applied sciences and university-wide commitments
  • applying for external research funds.

The three-year undergraduate/bachelor’s and one-year master’s programs in occupational therapy are given mainly in Swedish. The two-year master's program is given in English and is completely web-based.

 

To be eligible for the position, you must be an occupational therapist with a doctoral degree (PhD) in occupational therapy or another relevant subject. You have documented pedagogical training and experience in higher education. To succeed in the role, it is important that you can adapt to changing tasks and work tempo. You have the ability in working in teams as well as working independently. It is important that you have a good ability to organize, plan and work with administrative tasks and set and keep time frames. You have the ability and willingness to support junior team members.

The School of Health and Welfare conducts an active internationalization work. We expect you to have high level of competence in spoken and written English. Swedish language competency is an advantage. If you do not speak and understand Swedish, we prefer to see a willingness to learn the Swedish language in the first few years of your employment.

You have a good communication ability, i.e., you are good at listening and being receptive to other people's communication. You should also have ability in and be open to use digital tools for communication and education.

As a person, you have a positive attitude and enjoy sharing knowledge and experiences with students and colleagues. Furthermore, you have good social skills and strive for personal development.

It is meritorious if you have received external research funding.
