The department of Product Development, Production and Design (PPD) have about 35 dedicated employees committed to advancing research and education in industrial product realization in close collaboration with industrial partners. The subject of product development addresses approaches, methods, and tools for implementing modifications and expanding a manufacturing company's product range. The development work includes new design, redesign, and variant creation. The subject also encompasses the use of computer-aided tools and methods that support the coordination between design development and planned manufacturing.

Work tasks

As an Assistent professor/associate senior lecturer, you are expected to contribute to both research and education. The department is currently running several projects in product and production development in collaboration with industry. Depending on your experience and interests, you will have the opportunity to join ongoing projects, continue your own on-going projects and we also encourage you to lead and apply for funding for new projects based on your interests and the department’s strategic focus.

Courses we expect you to contribute to may include areas such as optimization, simulation (CAE), digitalization and automation in product development, mechanics, solid mechanics, mechatronics, and machine elements.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • a PhD in a relevant field for the position.
  • an interest in and documented experience of collaboration with industry.
  • a flexible and proactive approach, meaning you take initiative, structure and anchor your work.
  • a will to learn and try new things.

JU has a strong international focus, which requires proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Expertise in any of the following areas is considered an asset:

  • Plastics and sheet metal processing
  • Simulation in product development and/or production
  • Advanced programming/CAD/design-oriented skills
  • Autonomous systems, robotics, and AI
  • Proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
