Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is one of four schools within Jönköping University. The accounting group at JIBS currently consists of 13 active researchers within auditing, corporate governance, financial accounting, and management accounting and control.  The group is engaged in projects investigating the interrelation between accounting and ownership as well as accounting and renewal.  Several projects performed within the group include actors from the surrounding society. The group participates actively in national as well as international accounting networks and conferences and publish in reputable academic journals in the area. Research seminars are organized regularly at JIBS with international as well as national researchers.

JIBS is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Business Administration with focus on Management Accounting

Besides teaching, the holder of the position must be able to position their present or aspired research orientation within one or more of JIBS focus areas – renewal, ownership, and entrepreneurship. Teaching is performed in Swedish and English and distributed over the academic year.  All assistant professors at JIBS are expected to do research, apply for externally funded research grants, as well as be engaged with business and society at large, to improve JIBS footprint in the broader society.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with experience in teaching and research in management accounting and control. The candidate should also have a record of publications, preferably in journals ranked in the ABS list, and/or a promising pipeline.

The selection process will place great value on the candidate’s suitability for the position and JIBS, including flexibility; communication skills; quality awareness and ability to collaborate and build relationships both with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.  The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop and lead in education and research, and contribute to a dynamic academic environment, including being present at JIBS throughout the year.

Furthermore, the candidate should have:

  • Experience from attracting external funding
  • Established network relating to outreach and collaborations in research and education
  • Experience from publishing in well renowned accounting outlets
  • Full proficiency in English
  • Administrative skills

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience from research and/or teaching in management accounting and/or management control, e.g. budgeting, cost accounting, performance management, strategic management control.
  • Knowledge in Swedish
