The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. The department of Industrial product development, production and design conducts education and research in product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programmes at Campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two education programmes in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.

The department is looking for a Research Assistant in the subject of Production Technology – Automation, applications will be handled on an ongoing basis.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The aim of the work is to further develop methods and models within Automation or Production Technology. You will work with research in different projects together with your supervisor and other colleagues.

The projects all have industrial partners and the intention is to support manufacturing companies to develop production capabilities so that they more efficiently can offer products and services.

As a Research Assistant your work will mainly be research project work. You normally spend 80% of your time on research. Other tasks, such as teaching, do not represent more than 20% of the working hours (normally). Teaching on either bachelor level, master level or in courses for professionals are relevant for the employment. Involvement in courses for professionals might also be part of the work. Typical courses where your knowledge can be used are, for example, production development, production automation, or methodology courses.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for the position, you have a Master of Science in Production Technology, Production Systems, Industrial Engineering and Management, Production Development, Integrated Product and Production Development or equivalent.

Due to the international working environment, a good level of the English language, both written and oral, is expected. The ability to speak and write in Swedish is meritorious, as the work is in close collaboration with Swedish companies.

The successful candidate is truly committed, creative and curious. You enjoy collaborations, are capable of actualizing visions and ideas into practically feasible working methods and methodology and you have good communication skills. It is important that you have good analytical and systematical abilities.

It is important that you demonstrate skills to work efficiently, conscientiously and professionally both independently and in a team environment with great responsibility and ability to finish dedicated assignments/tasks on time. Furthermore, you have a flexible work approach, are resilient to external stresses and can manage multiple work tasks simultaneously.

It would also be considered beneficial if you have:

  • Theoretical knowledge in relevant fields;
  • Final project work or thesis work in relevant subject;
  • Teaching or lab-assistant work experience is meritorious;
  • Driver´s license for car - especially if it is valid in Sweden.
