Jönköping International Business School, Faculty

Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer an international and team-oriented workplace with competitive education programmes, across Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels, as well as a thriving research environment and many opportunities for personal development. Our mission is to advance the theory and practice of business, with specific focus on entrepreneurship, ownership and renewal. Our guiding principles are: international at heart, entrepreneurial in mind and responsible in action. These principles cut across our mission and all our activities. They signal the role we wish to play in relation to all our stakeholders. JIBS is double-accredited, by EQUIS and AACSB. In the latest Financial Times European Business School ranking, JIBS was ranked among the top 100.

The position is connected to Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO) at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Jönköping University (JU) in Sweden. Since its inception in 2005, CeFEO has been at the forefront of research on family business and is composed by scholars from different countries and backgrounds. Several rankings consistently place CeFEO as the leading research center in Europe and among the top three research centers globally. While having a specific focus on family business and ownership issues, researchers associated with CeFEO also conduct research on topics like strategy, entrepreneurship, governance, innovation, internationalization and sustainability which are very much in line with the focus of JU and JIBS.

JIBS is now recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in Business Administration for its Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO) for a two-year, full-time position.

OUR OFFER TO YOU

We seek a postdoctoral researcher who would like to pursue high-quality research on family business at Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO). We are particulary interested in candidates with a genuine interest in family business and currently conducting research on topics related to governance and/or entrepreneurship, proved by a solid pipeline of high-quality papers. Moreover, the ideal candidate has a clear interest to initiate new research project in these areas.

Relevant research projects within governance could be related to corporate governance, board of directors and ownership in family business with a disciplinary foundation in strategy and/or management. Relevant projects within entrepreneurship could be related to entrepreneurship as new firm formation and start-ups in the context of families, or as entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategic renewal within established family businesses. Research projects focused on the family group as an entrepreneurial actor, that is, enterprising and entrepreneurial families, are also very relevant. Research projects could also combine governance and entrepreneurship lenses and, ideally, forge the link to pressing contemporary challenges that face family businesses today.

The successful candidate for this postdoc position will work closely with Professor Mattias Nordqvist and it is expected that the research conducted within the frame of this position leads to publication in top ranked scientific journals. An ability and genuine interest to share research findings with stakeholders outside academia is also expected.
