School of Engineering at Jönköping University (JTH) is seeking an exceptional Research Assistant to join a cutting-edge project focused on developing innovative AI-based solutions for automated quality inspection in the manufacturing industry.
Welcome to our department, Department of Product Development, Production, and Design.
Our department is committed to both education and research, with a focus on product development, production development, and industrial design. It manages four educational programs at the Jönköping Campus and oversees two programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. Additionally, the department plays an active role in advancing research and education in Knowledge Intensive Product Realization, which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.
Project Overview: This project aims to create user-friendly, End-to-End AI solutions for quality inspection that can adapt to diverse environmental conditions and product designs. By leveraging state-of-the-art AI techniques, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), zero-shot defect detection, synthetic data generation, robot motion planning, and multi-modal defect detection techniques, we strive to transform the manufacturing sector and increase the overall performance, competitiveness, and sustainability of production operations.
Worktasks
- Participate in the collection, processing, and analysis of auditory and visual data, including the generation of synthetic data using advanced techniques and CAD files.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of AI models for surface and bulk anomaly detection, defect segmentation, and robot motion planning.
- Collaborate with the project team to integrate AI solutions into existing manufacturing processes, ensuring compatibility with PLCs, SCADA systems, and robotic platforms.
- Evaluate AI algorithms, develop programs, and simulate solutions on platforms like Isaac SIM.
- Conduct research, experiments, and evaluations to validate and optimize the developed AI solutions.
- Contribute to the dissemination of project findings through academic publications, workshops, and industry-focused training sessions.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, AI, Software Development, Embedded Systems, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with proven experience in deep learning and computer vision frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and OpenCV.
- Solid understanding of data science, computer vision systems, machine learning, sensor data processing, and related domains.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in technical writing and reporting, with a strong command of English
Desired Qualifications:
- Practical experience in machine learning and data science, preferably in an industrial setting (2-5 years).
- Experience with sound and image analysis, and applications of AI in their analysis and processing.
- Familiarity with Linux, JetPack SDK, NVIDIA Omniverse, and simulation platforms like ISAAC SIM.
- Strong interest in developing industrial solutions and demonstrators for automation, manufacturing, and robotics.
- Knowledge of PLC programming, ABB RobotStudio, RAPID programming, and robotic motion planning.
- Exposure to 3D graphics software and techniques for synthetic data generation (e.g., Blender, Unity).
- Swedish language proficiency
Employment Details:
