Tekniska Högskolan i Jönköping, Avdelningen för Material och Tillverkning

The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. We collaborate with the surrounding society to develop new technology and spread knowledge to strengthen the competitiveness of companies. Working with us, you are close to colleagues in an international environment with great opportunities to influence and develop.

School of Engineering offers education at all levels. Contact with industry is an important part of our education in order to ensure that the education is anchored in reality, and to acquire practical experience.

Research and third-cycle education are targeted at Industrial product realisation in cooperation, especially applications for small and medium-sized enterprises. Research takes place in collaboration with companies, research institutes and other university colleges of technology, in common projects.

This strategic recruitment of the professor is financed by the Knowledge Foundation and the following industrial partners: KB Components AB, HordaGruppen AB, Plasinject AB, Euroform AB, K.D. Feddersen Norden AB, Polymercentrum Sverige AB, Herenco AB and Thule Sweden AB.

Job description

We are seeking one Full Professor with a background in Polymers and Polymer Composites to work at the department of Materials and Manufacturing with a goal to build a solid area of research within polymers and polymer composites in close cooperation with many industrial partners.

The research focus includes materials development, technology to produce polymer and polymer composites based components as well as the final structure (both "local" on the microstructure level and "global" at the component level), properties and appearance of components, and phenomena relevant to component and process quality.

The developed knowledge is mathematically modelled to develop computational techniques and optimisation methods for use in the product development stage and in the manufacturing chain of components. Experimental validation methods are important tools for the prediction of actual microstructures and properties of components.

The position of Full professor of Polymers and Polymer Composites includes research and management of research activities, supervision of graduate students, developing courses and teaching at various academic levels, and collaboration with cross functional academia, industry and administration.

Qualifications

The position of Full professor of Polymers and Polymer Composites requires proven skills in areas such as polymer materials, fiber reinforced plastics, process and mechanical properties modelling as well as know-how to design plastic products.

We are looking for a candidate with, a PhD in the field of Polymers and Polymer Composites, documented scientific and pedagogical skills within the subject area are required. you need demonstrated ability to lead research and development as well as having experience in industrial and international cooperation
