Tekniska Högskolan i Jönköping, Logistik och verksamhetsledning

The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. We collaborate with surrounding society to develop new technology and spread knowledge to strengthen the competitiveness of companies. Working with us, you are close to colleagues in an international environment with great opportunities to influence and develop.

The department Supply Chain and Operations Management is engaged in education on bachelor, master and doctoral level, as well as commissioned education to private and public organizations. Research is also conducted which supports our education offer. We have an open, informal work environment where openness, respect and generosity are some of our key values.

We are now looking for new colleagues to join our team; assistant professors, lecturers or lecturers of technology in change management/organisational development.

Job Description

Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering courses in change management and leadership, to students and practitioners. They will also be expected to contribute to the development of interaction with industry, to research activities and to innovation and quality assurance in education.

The department is undergoing a process of intense development with regards to the reinforcement and transfer of competency in leadership, organisational development and change management – and in quality assurance and internationalisation. In view of the expectations on the future development of the position and the department, it is important that candidates are committed to the development of partnerships with industry, and to either education and/or research within the department.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in a subject of clear relevance to the position and the department’s education (operations management, business administration, psychology); or (for lecturer of technology) qualification as civil engineer; or competency assessed as equivalent to the above.

Meritorious is bachelor’s degree in one of the core teaching areas of the department (primarily logistics, operations management, organisational psychology, entrepreneurship, project management). Stand-alone courses in leadership, inter-cultural skills, education and/or accountancy are also meritorious.

Candidates for the position of assistant professor are required to possess a PhD in a subject of clear relevance to the post and the department’s executive education (primarily change management, operations management, business administration, psychology).

Candidates that do not have formal pedagogical qualifications for university teaching are required to complete such training within their first 2 years of employment.

Furthermore, the candidates must have documented experience and ability in structuring and delivering university education or professional development initiatives. We also expect the candidates to have:

  • At least 1 year of full-time teaching (in a university context) in the area of organisational change and/or organisational development, leadership or organisational psychology; OR:
  • At least 4 years full-time managerial experience / experience in management consulting; in the area of organisational change and/or organisational development, or organisational psychology.

Experience of work or study abroad, and/or extensive interaction with non-Swedish students or staff and strong networks within regional industry is meritorious. The ability to communicate clearly in both spoken and written Swedish and English is required. Moderate to high skills in additional ‘global’ languages (e.g.: Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese) are meritorious.

Since the department is undergoing a process of intense development, it is essential that the candidate has the ambition and capacity to grow ‘with’ the department. That is: the possibility and ambition to closely engage with the activities of other staff in the department and with The School of Engineering’s activities in relation to regional industry. We therefore expect candidates to spend the majority of their working time at the department. Candidates should have a history of ongoing learning, partnership and development within the organisations in/with which they have worked. The department emphasises teamwork and it is therefore essential that candidates are able to provide evidence of being open to learning from others, and of collaborating successfully with colleagues.

For full eligibility requirements, see "Appointment Procedure at Jönköping University".

Information

The positions are permanent and full-time with an initial probationary period. However, in order to stimulate partnership with industry, the department is open to candidates holding part-time positions, provided that they work at least 50% at The School of Engineering and that their remaining work is done in the context of industry.

The employment starts 1 February 2019 or as agreed upon. Applications will be handled throughout the recruitment process.
