The Department of Computer Science and Informatics offers academic programmes in subjects ranging from software engineering and embedded systems to user experience design and cybersecurity, and conducts research in associated areas. Our education programmes are developed in close collaboration with the surrounding industry and have an annual intake of approximately 300 students.
In our department, we have two research groups, Human-Centred Technology (HCT) and Cybersecurity and Privacy (CPR). The HCT group focuses on designing, developing, and evaluating technologies that make our lives easier and better, always with the end user in mind. The CPR group focuses on making cybersecurity and privacy work for organisations and individuals. We are now looking for an assistant professor in computer science with a specialisation in human-computer interaction. You will be part of the team that teaches in our Graphic Design and Web development bachelor's and User Experience Design master's and conduct research in the Human-Centred Technology (HCT) research group. As an Assistant Professor, you will conduct teaching and research in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), with an emphasis on the intersection of HCI and Artificial Intelligence as well as other core areas of HCI. Relevant research and teaching areas may include human-centred AI, AI-mediated interaction, content and interaction design, AI and creativity, media design, and the design and evaluation of interactive systems.
You are expected to establish and develop an independent research profile, build and maintain strong academic and industrial networks, and actively apply for external research funding. The role involves initiating, leading, and participating in research projects, as well as collaborating with other departments and schools at Jönköping University. You are also expected to stay up to date with developments in HCI, AI, and relevant societal and industrial contexts, and to contribute to the continuous development of courses and study programmes.
You should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or a closely related field) and demonstrate documented pedagogical merits in accordance with the Appointments Procedure at Jönköping University. You must also have documented experience of teaching in English.
You are expected to have solid and documented research experience in Human–Computer Interaction or closely related areas (see job description above). In addition, you should have documented teaching experience in at least one of the following areas: Human–Computer Interaction, content design, UX or interaction design, human-centred AI, or related fields.
