Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is one of four schools within Jönköping University (JU). Entrepreneurship embraces preconditions for, mechanisms behind, and societal consequences of new business ideas and ventures in existing companies as well as in start­ups. Ownership embraces management and governance in business ventures with the aim of explaining the challenges, characteristics, opportunities, and consequences related to ownership of different kinds. Renewal embraces research on innovation, technological change, as well as social and economic developments.

The research at JIBS is to a large extent conducted within one of, or across, its three research centres

 

We are now looking for an Assistant Professor with proven experience of teaching and research in business administration focused on sustainable business and/or responsible management. You will join our team in a stimulating workplace where you will be a vital contributor to education activities, research, and service to JIBS.

 

WORKING TASKS

As an Assistant Professor your main tasks comprise education, including teaching and course development at bachelor and master level and research.

JIBS has developed a unique Bachelor program, called Sustainable Enterprise Development, which is focused on the study of social and sustainable entrepreneurship. The study of social and sustainable entrepreneurship, contemporary issues in sustainability, responsible management, ownership, and governance are also core themes in several courses at master level. Our research centers have developed areas related to:

  • responsible management
  • ethics
  • social entrepreneurship
  • business sustainability.

The position is focused on sustainable business and/or responsible management, with specialization in one or several associated fields which can include business ethics, CSR, corporate citizenship and green/circular business.

All Assistant Professors at JIBS are expected to do rigorous and relevant research, apply for externally funded research grants, as well as engage with business and community, to improve JIBS impact in the broader society.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for a position as an assistant professor at JIBS you must have been awarded a doctor’s degree in a, for the position relevant area.

A fluency in English is required as teaching is performed primarily in English, fluency in Swedish is considered a merit.

The applicant must be able to position their present or aspired research objectives within JIBS focus areas and research centres: entrepreneurship, ownership, and/or renewal. Applicants are expected to outline in the cover letter how their research strongly aligns with one or more of these focus areas, as well as how they suggest engaging in one (or more) of the three research centres (i.e. CeFEO, CEnSE, and MMTC). A strong fit will be evaluated as a merit.

Ability to teach and do research on the sustainability topic applied to various subjects of business administration is required why we request a documented expertise in teaching and research.

We see that you have a well-documented experience of sustainability work, a prior engagement in the community is meritorious as is experience of consultative work in a, for the position relevant area.

It is also meritorious if you have

  • experience from work outside academia.
  • experience from sustainability projects.
  • proven abilities of leadership.
  • experience of academic and institutional service.
