The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. The department of Product development, production and design conducts education and research in areas such as product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programs at Campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two education programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.

The department of Industrial Product Development, Production and Design is looking for an Assistant professor in integrated product and production development with focus on automation and production technology.

Work assignments

The work will mainly include research and teaching.

The research efforts will mainly be linked to research projects (SABACE) at the department of Industrial product development, production and design (PPD). Other research initiatives, such as additive manufacturing, are set on the needs of the business, operations and the department based on competence and qualification. Research takes place mainly in collaboration with industry.

The teaching will take place mainly on advanced level at the PPD department. Teaching will mainly be in the master's program in Product design, Production engineering and management or in our other 5-year master program in Industrial product realization. Additionally, supervision and examination of thesis work is in focus. Work with course administration is also relevant for this position. Courses relevant for the employment are; Automation and Production Technology, Thesis work in Production Systems and Integrated Product and Production Development. Teaching is also done in the PREMIUM project at PPD where courses within Automation or Additive manufacturing for industry are in focus.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Production systems, Product and Production Development or the equivalent. Priority should be given to applicants who have completed their degree or acquired the corresponding expertise no more than five years before the last date for applications.

You should have experience of Post Doc work and related assignments. Research work experience within either Automation, Production Technology or Additive Manufacturing are highly relevant as is practical experience of project management. Research in collaboration with industry is a merit. You should have experience of teaching at university level and you must be interested in pedagogical activities. Supervision of master thesis work skills are necessary. It is an advantage if you have experience of course responsibility or program responsibility.

Documented pedagogical skills is also a merit together with a completed course in pedagogy or similar training. Jönköping University has a clear international character, which also requires good written and communicative ability in English. Written and communicative skills in Swedish is a merit.

Terms

The position is a permanent employment of 100%, starting 1st of October 2021 or by agreement. Collective agreements and individual wage setting apply.
