Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is one of four schools within Jönköping University. The position is connected to Center for Family Enterpreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO) at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Jönköping University (JU) in Sweden. Since its creation in 2005, CeFEO has been at the forefront of research on family business and is composed by scholars from different countries and backgrounds. Several rankings consistently place CeFEO as the leading research center in Europe and among the top three research centers, globally. CeFEO members conduct research on topics like strategy, entrepreneurship, governance, accounting, innovation, internationalization, and sustainability, having a strong focus on the family business context and ownership dynamics.

JIBS is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Business Administration (or equivalent subject area) with a focus on Applied Research in Family Business and Ownership.

We offer you a stimulating workplace where you will be a vital contributor to education activities, research, and service to JIBS. At JIBS we work in an international environment and maintain both national and international networks. Teaching is performed primarily in English and distributed over the academic year.

Besides teaching, the holder of the position must be able to position their present or aspired research orientation within JIBS focus areas. All assistant professors at JIBS are expected to do research, apply for externally funded research grants, as well as be engaged with business and society at large, to improve JIBS footprint in the broader society.

Moreover, the selected candidate will be a member of CeFEO, joining more than 50 scholars and 20 affiliated researchers, plus a large turnover of visiting scholars, and contributing in fullfil the centre’s mission of “Academic Excellence and Practical Relevance” in the fields of Family Business and Ownership.

 

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for candidates with experience in teaching and applied research in Ownership and Family Business in one of the areas such as organization, strategy, entrepreneurship, sustainability, corporate governance, accounting. The candidate should also have a record of publications, preferably in journals ranked in the ABS list, and/or a promising pipeline, with a particular interest toward applied research.

The selection process will place great value on applicants’ suitability for the position and JIBS, including flexibility; communication skills; quality awareness and ability to collaborate and build relationships both with students, colleagues and external stakeholders. The successful applicant will be called to developing and conducting applied research projects strengthening the collaboration between CeFEO and the industry, and will have the opportunity to develop and lead in education and research and contribute to a dynamic academic environment, including being present at JIBS throughout the year.

You also need to have:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and ability to teach and examine courses using English;
  • Some experience of combining theoretical knowledge with practical relevance;
  • Some experience of building and maintaining sustainable relationships with practitioners and society at large.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of executive education;
  • Experience in applied research in Ownership and/or Family Business;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Swedish;
  • Past collaboration(s) with industry and public sector.

Focus will be placed on the person’s aptness to CeFEO.
