The Grants Office at Jönköping University (JU) provides strategic and operative advice on research funding for researchers, management and administration at JU’s Schools, with a particular focus on the EU’s framework programmes for research and innovation. The Grants Office was set up at JU as a long-term strategic initiative funded by the University and Region Jönköping County.

We are now looking for a qualified Senior Grant Advisor with experience of working with research support, who wants to be involved in developing our Grants Office.

 

Work tasks

In the position of Senior Grant Advisor, you work to create the conditions for more research applications to lead to successful JU research projects. You work closely with our Vice president for research and together you set goals and develop the business plan for the Grants office.

As a Senior Grant Advisor, you work proactively by identifying and informing about the various forms of financing within the EU with a focus on Horizon Europe. You assist the Strategic Council for Research with advice on research funding issues and coordinate the joint applications and nomination processes at JU.

The work tasks also include:

  • Develop and maintain networks with relevant actors nationally and internationally.
  • Be advisory in research projects by:
    • o Supporting researchers during the application process and also contributing by providing expert knowledge about the formalities.
    • o Supporting researchers during the creation and coordination of new consortia.
    • o Providing project leaders with administrative support.
    • o Supporting researchers in the reporting of research projects.
  • Arranging/attending seminars and training for researchers, management and other interested parties at JU.
  • In teams with other advisors and specialist at Grants Office participate in development work, i.e. develop processes, working methods, and internal communication channels to drive the development of Grants Office forward.
  • Assist in the introduction and supervision of new employees within GO and in the distribution of tasks within GO.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a person with

  • experience of coordinating and reporting research projects, providing research advice as well as experience of taking projects from idea to completion
  • a good insight into the terms and conditions for academic research
  • sound knowledge of and contact with relevant research funders within the EU
  • experience of framework programmes for research and innovation (for example FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe)

A precondition for the post of Research Advisor is that you are not only an analytical and structured person who takes the initiative, but also a service-minded team player. You are able to communicate perfectly in English, both verbally and in writing, and are happy giving presentations to small and large groups. The role has many internal and external interfaces and there is thus a precondition for social competence and pedagogical skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

You should have an interest in research-strategic issues as well as an understanding of the collaboration between academia, other stakeholders and society in general.

It would also be advantageous if you:

  • have completed doctoral studies
  • have general knowledge of the EU’s education, innovation and research policies
  • have good knowledge in a third language.
  • Have previous experience of working at a Grants Office or in a consulting business with similar / related assignments.
